Why ‘Carla Gugino Day’? Because on this day both “Elektra Luxx” and “Girl Walks Into a Bar” will be released.
Elektra Luxx stars Carla Gugino, Timothy Olyphant, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrianne Palicki, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Malin Akerman, Kathleen Quinlan, Vincent Kartheiser, Isabella Gutierrez, Lucy Punch, Justin Kirk and Marley Shelton.
Synopsis: Recently retired from the adult film industry, superstar Elektra Luxx (Carla Gugino) is pregnant with the child of late rock star Nick Chapel. She is trying to make ends meet by teaching a community college sex education class aimed at housewives when a figure from her past, flight attendant Cora (Marley Shelton), approaches her with a proposition. In exchange for the (stolen) lyrics to Nick Chapel’s last record, all of which is about Elektra, Cora needs Elektra to seduce her fiancee. Elektra reluctantly agrees to do this favor, setting in motion a series of events which will see her come face to face with detectives, sex bloggers, emotionally unstable neighbors and the Virgin Mary herself as she wrestles with the prospect of motherhood and tries to become a person of substance.
It will come out in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Boston and probably Austin at first, then hopefully expand from there.
Stay tuned and spread the word!
Girl Walks Into a Bar stars Carla Gugino, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, Robert Forster, Josh Hartnett, Alexis Bledel, Gil Bellows, Zachary Quinto, Kevin Zegers, Michelle Ryan and Amber Valletta.
Synopsis: “Girl Walks Into a Bar” connects a group of apparent strangers over one night across 10 bars throughout Los Angeles. Zachary Quinto stars as a dentist who teams up with a feisty would-be assassin (Carla Gugino) to put the final touches on the plan to kill his wife. Once he makes a play for the assassin’s payment, he unknowingly sets off a chain of events that fuels a cross-town journey through the many lounges, bars, strip clubs and the occasional nudist ping pong club scattered across Los Angeles. Along the way, we are introduced to a series of idiosyncratic characters, from gangsters (Danny DeVito) to exotic dancers (Emmanuelle Chriqui, Alexis Bledel), from ex-cons (Robert Forster) to cops (Josh Hartnett, Gil Bellows), with the odd hatcheck girl (Rosario Dawson) and bartender (Amber Valletta) thrown in for good measure.
Elektra says: “GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR will be released, for free, on YOUTUBE — as the first feature length Hollywood quality motion picture to come out exclusively online. Expect lots of facebooking, twittering, and whatchamacallit viral video news type things to spread the word — as a new distribution model for indie film is being tested.”
Oh and before I forget it - trailer for both movies will be released next week.
